Bridge Replacement VT Rte. 100 over Deerfield River in Readsboro, VT
- Project Description
- Scope of Work
Replacement of Rte. 100 bridge over the Deerfield River in Readsboro, VT. The new structure will be a record-breaking 287-foot single span plate girder bridge which will be built in two stages while maintaining one lane of traffic. CXC was added to the design team to provide construction advice during design development.
CXC provided constructability review, cost estimate and schedule analysis with a focus on erection of 11′-8″ deep, 287′ long plate girders and associated heavy-lift equipment, temporary support structures and erection scheme. CXC’s Construction Risk Assessment identified key areas of high risk and uncertainty during the design phase. CXC reviewed and reported on all aspects of bridge constructability including site constraints, traffic control, construction sequencing, utility conflicts, value engineering options and QA/QC issues. CXC also developed a cost estimate and construction schedule for structural steel with an hour-by-hour Acceleration Schedule for long weekend roadway closures during assembly. Ultimately, CXC developed a preliminary steel erection procedure, including temporary shoring, crane sizing and layout, material delivery, rigging and temporary bracing, to confirm the validity of the design concept.
