Pulaski Skyway (Rte. 1&9), Rocker Bent Retrofit
- Project Description
- Scope of Work
Final design of a retrofit/repair of 27 “Rocker Bents” on the Pulaski Skyway bridge. This project is part of NJDOT’s $1 billion commitment to the rehabilitation of this 3.5 mile long bridge which crosses the Hackensack and Passaic Rivers, the NJ Turnpike and several railroads while serving as a major link to/from Northern New Jersey and Manhattan. The scope of work included complete local truss reconstruction, retrofitting with high-load multi-rotational bearings, temporary ground supports and bridge painting.
CXC conducted detailed site investigation and assessment of all repair/retrofit options and preliminary strategies accounting for all site conditions and construction risks. Afterward, CXC reviewed and reported on all aspects of construction risk such as access constraints, sequence of work, worker and public safety, temporary shoring methods, value engineering options, construction cost and schedule. In addition, CXC developed a quantity and cost estimate for prototype Rocker Bent repair/retrofit and a preliminary construction schedule for prototype repair/retrofit.
